In September 2024, we hosted the inaugural Here | Africa Dinner Series—an evening dedicated to celebrating the remarkable women shaping Africa’s food and agriculture landscape. Against the vibrant backdrop of Nairobi, over 20 women founders came together to share their stories, connect with like-minded entrepeneurs, and enjoy an unforgettable dining experience inspired by the flavors of Africa.

The food and agriculture sector is one of the most transformative spaces in Africa today. Women are at the forefront of this change, driving innovation, sustainability, and equity. Yet, their stories are often untold, their networks under-leveraged. The Here | Africa Dinner Series was created to change that—to bring women leaders together in a space that fosters connection, collaboration, and inspiration.
At its core, the dinner was about community. It was a chance for these women to step away from the demands of their businesses and connect with others who share their vision of a better food system. Over the course of the evening, guests exchanged ideas, shared challenges, and celebrated successes. From farmers and food producers to tech innovators and restaurateurs, the diversity of perspectives at the table created a vibrant tapestry of possibility.
The evening’s menu was a love letter to African cuisine. Every dish was carefully curated to showcase the incredible depth and diversity of the continent’s food heritage. From appetizers inspired by coastal Swahili flavors to main courses highlighting rich, hearty traditions from across West Africa, the meal was a journey through Africa’s culinary landscape.

Stories flowed freely, ideas were exchanged, and collaborations were sparked. These conversations highlighted the incredible impact women are making across the food system and the potential that lies in working together.
To all the founders who joined us: thank you for your stories, your passion, and your commitment to building a better food system. To everyone reading this: stay tuned for more events, stories, and opportunities to celebrate Africa’s food and agriculture innovators.
Here’s to the future—rooted in community, collaboration, and connection.
